What is an SSL/TLS certificate?
An SSL/TLS certificate encrypts the connection between browser and server (HTTPS), protects transmitted data from eavesdropping and confirms your website's identity. Recognizable by the padlock icon in the address bar.
Do I need SSL for SEO and Google ranking?
Yes. HTTPS has been a confirmed Google ranking factor for years, and browsers flag sites without SSL as “not secure”. A valid certificate is now essential for trust, conversion and visibility.
What is the difference between DV, OV and EV?
DV (Domain Validation) verifies only the domain – ideal for small websites, issued in minutes. OV (Organization Validation) additionally verifies your company – ideal for businesses and shops. EV (Extended Validation) undergoes the strictest vetting and offers the highest level of trust – ideal for banks, large shops and sensitive data.
Wildcard or multi-domain (SAN) – which suits me?
A wildcard certificate secures one domain including all subdomains (e.g. *.your-domain.com). A multi-domain/SAN certificate secures several different domains (up to 250) in one certificate. The two can also be combined.
How quickly is my certificate issued?
DV certificates are often active within a few minutes. OV certificates usually take 1–3 business days, EV certificates 1–5 business days – depending on the company vetting.
How long is an SSL certificate valid?
The maximum validity is currently 1 year (398 days). With us you conveniently book 1, 2 or 3 years – renewal then takes place within the booked period.
Are reissues free of charge?
Yes. Throughout the entire term you can reissue your certificate free of charge and without limit – for example after a server change or key loss.
Do I get help with installation?
Yes. Our support from Germany assists you with CSR creation, installation, setup and renewal of your certificate.
